ZoneEdit: The Response

Well, it's official. I received an email 5 minutes ago from ZoneEdit's customer support. Bit late...but never mind (the site came back on about 36 hours ago?)

Unfortunately, we experienced a Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attack, which caused a loss of service to these two nameservers. All our nameserves are operational but ns14.zoneedit.com. We expect it to be operational in a few hours. Your domain should be resolving now.

Well, there's confirmation that for the second month in a row, they have had some kind of attack. Who would want to attack them, I don't know. This though, might make people reconsider using their service - for the piece of mind of my customers I've already started moving!

Sorry ZoneEdit...

ZoneEdit.com: Attacked (again?)

The last couple of days have been extremely worrying for me; I woke up yesterday morning and checked my email, and was confused when I found a mahoosive total of...well, none. Upon checking redgalaxyuk.com was still working, I found that our main nameservers had gone down. What followed was a barrage of changes, frantically trying to get our web site and email working. Did any of them work? Well no, obviously.

In my efforts to try and restore some sanity, I had a look on Google to see if anyone had posted anything, and what I found wasn't very reassuring - ZoneEdit.com had been hit with a Denial Of Service Attack, exactly a month before this. You can even read about it here. Strange, eh?

Quite amazing really, as I've been using ZoneEdit's services for a good four years with no problems; I even used up my free credits and moved onto paid ones! You can bet your life I won't now...

Music? Not quite...

A few months ago I posted a blog about the future launch of a web site called EmeraldTunes. As development rolls ahead, a large number of artists have given us their interest, and we're entering into a beta test period, in which some are agreeing to put their tunes online for all to hear...

If you're a listener, don't despair. People have been showing interest as listeners too! In fact, many of my friends are actually spreading the word - perhaps the headline for the press: "Tunes so soon?" - discussing how so much interest was generated before launch, we might as well have launched now!

On a serious note, though, we expect to launch EmeraldTunes by the end of February, and so if you're interested, I urge you to get your skates on!

www.emeraldtunes.com - simply fill in your name and e-mail address, we'll send you an e-mail when we launch with more information!

Artists interested in getting on EmeraldTunes have the opportunity to do so now, allowing us to test the system so far. Such artists will be given 6 months' free premium service when the premium service launches, as a thanks for their support. Purchase of the premium service after the 6 months is not required, and they can opt to return to the free service at any time. More information coming soon.
